About Brett
Brett Fairley grew up in Gulfport, Mississippi, and spent his early twenties traveling in an ambulance he had completely renovated into a home on wheels. After some time in Tennessee, he moved back to Mississippi in late 2023 and met his wife, Hadley, in early 2024. Both of their families live nearby, and despite the laws he wants to change, Mississippi is home.
Together, Brett and Hadley bought a house on the river that had been abandoned for twenty years, along with eleven acres of waterfront property. The property is surrounded by hundreds of acres of state-owned land that cannot be bought or developed by outsiders, giving them the space and privacy they knew they would never find again. They’ve spent the last few years turning it into their dream home, with Brett doing much of the renovation himself. Today, they live there with Hadley’s three children, whom Brett is stepdad to, and their three dogs. It’s a huge undertaking, but this is where they want to spend the rest of their lives, and the before-and-afters show just how much has gone into making it home.
Brett believes children and parents deserve to know the truth about biological parentage. He wants paternity laws changed so that a man who is proven not to be a child’s biological father is not financially treated as though he is, and so that deliberate deception, including lying by omission, carries accountability. Loving a child does not make the deception acceptable, and wanting the truth does not mean someone never loved that child. Children deserve honest answers about who their parents are, too.
Through Fair Foundations, Brett is working toward providing voluntary DNA testing at no cost and giving others a way to sponsor tests for people who need them. He wants people to have access to answers and a way to help change the laws.
He’s still figuring out everything that comes next, but he wants to share what he can of his own story and, eventually, help other people tell theirs too.
